Independence

"NO!"

(-- every toddler, in their own language)

It's natural and normal to want to be independent, and young toddlers are quick to let you know when they start to develop their self-awareness that they are separate from Mom or Dad, and can do their own things - and want to. It often seems easier (and certainly faster and neater) to do things for young children, rather than allow the extra few minutes it takes for them to do it themselves. Just remember - independence is the long-term goal of parenting, and becoming a productive competent adult takes some practice, so why not start now? The way to become independent is to practice independent behaviors, which includes making your own mistakes along the way.

(Yes, it might be hard for parents to watch and wait!)
