Jumping rope is lots of fun and educational in many ways. Jumping rope with songs and rhymes helps improve memorization skills, increases vocabulary, and encourages social skills. Joining a double dutch team can provide years of fun for older teens and adults. If you'll help your child learn to jump rope at a young age, they'll also do great when it comes time for Jump Rope For Heart in school. Learning to jump rope is a lot like learning to ride a bike - it takes awhile and lots of practice and lots of patience, so hang in there, because the rewards are worth it. Benefits of jumping rope include good health in general and good cardio exercise in particular. With the current epidemic of obesity, especially among children, encouraging jumping rope from an early age is a discreet and gentle way to use jump rope for weight loss, and hopefully to prevent obesity in the first place! Chinese jump rope games are a fun twist on jumping rope, so don't forget those, either. Chinese jump rope games are especially good for children who have trouble learning regular jump rope skills.
